DiamondBacks Hockey Club recognises that the future great players of hockey will come from our junior ranks.
We are committed to providing a safe, encouraging environment for our young players, whilst giving them expert coaching and ample development opportunities.
We work closely with Hockey Tasmania to ensure we are aligned to regional and state development programmes and opportunities.
We Cover All Age Groups
Age 4-12
Hookin2Hockey
Hookin2Hockey introduces children to hockey through fun, modified games played on smaller fields. Players progress through eighth-field, quarter-field and half-field formats, with an emphasis on developing skills, confidence and friendships.
U12s
Full Field Development
Our U12 program supports players as they transition from modified hockey into full-field junior competition. Training focuses on core skills, positioning, teamwork and helping players understand how the game works across the whole field.
U14s
Improve team play
At U14 level, players continue developing their individual skills while learning to work more effectively as a team. Sessions introduce more structured positioning, decision-making and game awareness in an encouraging and enjoyable environment.
U16s
Play with structure and speed
Our U16 players develop the skills needed to play faster, more structured hockey. Training focuses on movement, communication, tactical awareness and making effective decisions under pressure.
U18s
Prepare for adult hockey
The U18 program helps players prepare for the transition into senior hockey. Players refine their technical skills, develop a stronger understanding of team structures and learn to manage the increased speed and physical demands of the adult game.
Tasmania's Largest Junior Hockey Program
DiamondBacks is proud to have one of the largest junior programs in Tasmania, with opportunities for players from Hookin2Hockey through to U18s.
That success does not happen by accident. It comes from the commitment of our amazing coaches, team personnel, volunteers and supporters, who create a welcoming environment where young players can have fun, build friendships and develop their skills.
Our focus is bigger than hockey. We want every junior to feel included, grow in confidence and develop a genuine love of the game.
